A small guide to Horror Movies

Sonntag, 16. Oktober 2016

Hey my luvs, today is a "thank god Halloween is soon" kinda post. I love horror movies and all that jazz around it, so I thought it would be a good idea to make a little guide for those of you who maybe celevrate Halloween with a little movie session or even alone. Nothing wrong with a little single time and horror movies. I tried to make as much categories as possible, but in case i missed something, let me know over on my twitter or insta ;)

Disclaimer: I'm just mentioning my favorites. If you want to find more just go to Wikipedia, iMDb or google.

Comedy
Let's start with a more chill categorie. Comedy can be used quiet differently in horror movies, everyone has their own opinion what comedy really is or funny. Everyone has a different taste of humor and it's quite hard to find a movie everyone likes.

  • Recomandations: Cabin in the Woods | Jennifer's Body | Fright Night (Remake) | Shawn of the Dead (what a gem) | Zombieland | Tucker & Dale vs Evil (so good)
Slasher
Now let's go to the 80's. This was the time were slasher were big and popular. It usually is about a group of teenagers being followed by a serial killer or some kind and mostly only one of them survives. Sounds like every horror movie that came out this year *sighs*
  • Recomandations: Friday the 13th | Scream | I know what you did last summer | Halloween | My Bloody Valentine (original & remake) | All the Boys Love Mandy Lane | The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Supernatural/Ghosts/Spirits
This isn't one of my favorite since it got murdered by those horrible, horrible, horrible Paranomal Activity movies. But thanks to James Wan the little genre was brought back to live by his seriously good movies.

  • Recomandations: Insidious 1-2 | The Conjuring 1-2 | The Exorcist | Dead Silence | Lights Out | Amityville Horror | The Blair Witch Project | The Ward | Sinister (soooo good) | It Follows | Crimson Peak
Remakes
Before you shake your head let me explain real quick: not every remake is bad. Sure thing there are a shit ton of them and Hollywood just keeps making them. There are some exceptions.
  • Recomandations: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) & The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006) | Fright Night (2011) | Evil Dead (2013) (watch the extended cut here!)
Zombies
Ugh, also one of my least favorite genres in this industry. In fact i only have two recomandations that don't really suck balls.
  • Recomandations: Dawn of the Dead (2004) | World War Z (2013)
Stephen King Movie / TV-Miniseries
WE ALL KNEW THAT THIS WOULD COME! Stephen King is for me the master of horror. His Books are legendary and some of the Movies too, that's why he has his own category :) There are many many more, but I still have to watch some of them.
Recomandations: Carrie (1976) | Shining | Cujo | Pet Samatary | IT | The Stand | The Mist |

At this point I don't want to make the list any longer so I simply wrote down some more gems that are worth a watch.
  • The Descent
  • High Tension
  • The Purge
  • Kristy
  • House of Wax (2005) (just for the pure fun of seeing Paris Hilton)
  • The Hitcher
  • Dread (2009)
  • Deadgirl (2009) (!!!this is probably one of the most underated movies ever made!!!)
  • Don't Breath
  • Green Room
  • Hush

  • The Visit
  • Krampus
  • The Boy (not so good but it's enjoyable)

God i could continue this list for the next three hours but i am tired and still need to curl my hair and get some stuff done for work tomorrow. I know there are not many movies listed here and there are more categories but that's all I can do right now. Maybe I'm going to update the list over the next few days. Have a lovely rest weekend and a good start into the week

x N
